| Description | First complete edition, edited by Nikolas Barsukov. Barsky's 24-year travels covered all the major Orthodox religious sites. He kept extensive notes, as well as sketches of the various places he visited, intending to publish an account of his experiences. His work, published posthumously, is of great value for the information it provides, not only on the general state of Orthodoxy in the mid-18th century, but also on the actual structures and organization of monasteries throughout Greece, Cyprus, Mt Athos, Asia Minor, the Holy Land and Egypt. |
